There are many places in our country that I’ve been fortunate enough to visit, but one of them always draws me back — again and again.
That place is the Studen Kladenets Reservoir in the Eastern Rhodopes.
This corner of the magnificent Rhodope Mountains carries a special kind of energy — something you can feel, almost subconsciously.
You don’t need anyone to tell you myths or legends to sense the magic here. And really, what can words add to such beauty? No matter how long you gaze at the landscape, it’s never enough.
Especially in late autumn — a divine palette of colors, painted only by the greatest artist of all: nature.
That’s why we set off for Studen Kladenets. To immerse ourselves in the quiet beauty of autumn — and to experience it from the water.
The reservoir welcomes us with calm, glassy waters. We’re eager to begin, impatient to glide forward and explore.
One of the purest ways to connect with nature — to truly be in it without disturbing its harmony — is by kayak. There’s no engine noise, no rush.
Only the rhythm of your paddle, your effort, your breath.
Here, nature gives you everything you need — and embraces you in all her splendor.
We glide across the mirror-like surface of the water, where the sloping hills reflect their shades of yellow, orange, and red — every color of autumn shimmering around us. The beauty fills both the eyes and the soul. In moments like this, everything else fades away. The small worries and stresses of everyday life dissolve; the silence gently washes away the last echo of the city’s restless noise.
Here, you don’t just breathe deeply — you expand. You find space. And if you’re a little philosophical, you start to see how small we really are, how modern life traps us in the boxes of our homes, our neighborhoods, our routines, and our seemingly big, but really small, personal ambitions.
Places like this help you clear the clutter inside yourself. The effort is worth it — after it comes a smile, and the realization that you’ve just paddled more than 30 kilometers in two days. It’s another reminder that our limits exist mostly in our minds, and that we’re capable of far more than we think. But to discover that, you have to step outside your comfort zone — and just go.

Along the way, we’ll stop at small islands to rest, take photos, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Rhodope Mountains.
In the evening, we’ll gather around the campfire to share food, stories, and laughter under a sky filled with countless stars.
