Kayaking trip to Meganisi, Greece
Meganissi is a small island in the Ionian Sea in the west of Greece, situated close to the island of Lefkada. Our visit will include a trip to some of the caves on the island. We will kayak and walk to small and secluded beaches with azure blue water. The starting point of kayaking adventure will be Desimi where there is accommodation for camping or wild beach nearby, depending on the willingness of the group.
Program kayak trip around Meganisi, Greece:
Day 1. We arrive at the island of Lefkada, Greece which is the starting point for our kayak trips. We were put up in camping or organize a camp in neighboring wild beach. We will prepare the kayaks – a brief instruction and head to the island of Meganissi to look at the cave Papanikolis. The cave itself is remarkable for its size – it can enter an entire vessel. It is famous for the legend that during World War II was a secret stash of submarines. After visiting the cave return back to the starting point
Day 2. We wake up with the sunrise, have breakfast and then we head back to the island Meganissi, but the goal of this day is to tour the beaches on the north. Paddle, stop for rest and relaxation and so on until we reach the most eastern point of the island. After lunch, we head back to Desimi, Greece
Day 3. This day will dedicate to walk to Nydri, as the road will tour a number of islands nearby
Day 4. After breakfast and coffee, we will load luggage and head to the city. On the way we stop to look at the waterfalls of Nydri, and for lunch and rest. Expected harvest, late in the evening.
All details about the trip will be discussed with the group in advance. We will make a short list of essentials that one needs to carry. Sleeping will be camping or tents. If we sleep in tents, it is desirable to have the equipment for camping – tent, sleeping bag, mat. If someone does not have such will provide. The program is not final and is subject to change in the willingness of people in the group or unfavorable conditions for kayaking – high waves, bad weather.
