The magic of the Rhodope Mountains in 2 days by kayak
Program
Day 1 – Shiroka Polyana Reservoir
We depart at 7:00 AM and arrive at Shiroka Polyana Reservoir around 10:30 AM.
By 11:00 AM, we’re on the water!
Our first task is to find a perfect spot to set up camp, followed by a short lunch break. Then, we’ll spend the rest of the day paddling, exploring, and getting to know the rich flora and fauna of the area.
Shiroka Polyana has a truly unique shape. Seen from the surrounding road, it appears as if it’s made up of many small lakes divided by walls — an illusion created by the uneven mountain terrain beneath the water.
In the evening, we’ll gather around the campfire for songs, laughter, and dancing under a sky full of countless stars.
Day 2 – Golyam Beglik Reservoir & Mineral Baths
We rise at 8:00 AM, pack up camp, and by 10:00 AM, we head to Golyam Beglik Reservoir.
Here, we’ll enjoy another 3–4 hours of kayaking, with a relaxing picnic on a peaceful Rhodope meadow.
Around 4:00 PM, we begin our return trip to Sofia — but not before stopping at the Varvara Mineral Baths (don’t forget your swimsuit!) for a well-deserved soak before the work week begins.
