Meganisi is a small island in the Ionian Sea in western Greece, located next to the island of Lefkada. Our visit will include a walk to some of the caves on the island. We will also walk to small and sheltered beaches with blue azure water. The meeting point of the kayak adventure will be Desimi, where there is the possibility of accommodation on a campsite or on a wild beach nearby, depending on the wishes of the group.
Program for kayaking around Meganisi
Day 1 We leave Sofia around 19.00 from Vasil Levski Stadium.
Day 2 In the morning we arrive on the island of Lefkada near Desimi, which is the starting point for our kayak trips. We prepare the kayaks – a short briefing follows and head to the island of Meganisi to explore the cave Papanikolis. The cave itself is remarkable for its size – a whole ship can enter it. It is known for the legend that during the Second World War it was a secret hiding place for submarines. And on the way we will see turquoise lagoons and other small caves. We return to Desimi in the late afternoon.
Day 3 We wake up at sunrise, have breakfast and drink coffee, then go on new adventures again to the island of Meganisi. Our goal will be to go around the beaches from the north. At the beginning we will pass the island of Scorpios and we will reach the village of Spartochori, where we will tread, we will have lunch, because the food here is fantastic and a delight for our language. You will be transported to the world of narrow streets, stone houses, beautiful gardens… Then we head again to Desimi.
Day 4 This day we will dedicate a walk to the beach Porto Katsiki, which according to some rankings is the third most beautiful in the world with its beach of white pebbles. Along the way, the natural landmarks alternate one after the other and we will be able to see a number of cliffs with incredible views.
Day 5 After breakfast and coffee, we load our luggage and set off for Sofia. On the way we will stop to see the waterfalls of Nydri, among which is the famous waterfall Dimosari. In ancient times, there were many mills in this area, and the whole island is rich in groundwater, thanks to which it is so green. Expected arrival in Sofia – late in the evening.
